Family Camping

Pack 446 hosts family campouts throughout the year.   Our Spring Campout is at Camp Mohawk in Angleton, Texas. Please see description and signup genius below:

The packs spring campout is coming up on April 3- April 5 at Camp Mohawk in Alvin, Texas. Activities this year include wilderness hikes, knot tying, rank specific activities (dependent of number of signups) a kickball game, basketball games, bicycle rides (BYO) smores and more. If you can’t camp overnight your welcome to come out for the day. This campout is a pack family camp, so ALL family is welcome to come. The pack is also in the process of coordinating meals for all who attend. There is no fee for admission or to park your vehicle in the park.

Camp Mohawk is a 55-acre day-use park with overnight facilities in a wooded setting along Chocolate Bayou between Angleton and Alvin. The camp features tent camping areas, a chapel, covered pavilions, picnic areas with grills, a three acre lake with a canoe launching area, playground, basketball court, baseball fields, extended trail system, paved parking areas and restrooms. Natural attractions at Camp Mohawk include the only stand of native pine trees in Brazoria County, a guide for identifying tree species along the trails, bird watching and nature viewing, and fishing.
Historically, the site was in use by the area natives in the pre-European era, served as a training ground for Texas soldiers in 1861, and was a private meeting ground from 1930 until acquisition by the County in 2001. Camp Mohawk County Park is located in SH 35 about 8 miles south of Alvin, TX (just south of Chocolate Bayou bridge).

SATURDAY CAMPFIRE: Who wants to make s’mores? Each den (or rank depending on attendance) is encouraged to be prepared with a campfire song & skit. Parents, dig into those memory banks for a suggestion to share with your scout or his den leader!

CAMPERS: We have reserved 20 sites. Friday campers – arrival/check-in times are 3:00 – dusk (about 6:30 per Park Ranger). Saturday campers, park opens at 8:00 A.M.. We recommend leaving Pearland around 9:00 A.M. if you want to make it in time for the activities, which will start around 10:00 A.M., but you are welcome to come later if necessary.

MEALS: The pack is in the process to organize meals for the pack. Further details will be released soon so any families can plan for their special dietary needs.
